College and Organization

College and organizations are two different things. Colleges and organizations are meant to develop students' hard skills and soft skills according to their interests. To be able to get a decent job in accordance with what students want, the student must have hard skills and soft skills. Both elements are very influential on the fate of students in the future. However, managing college and organization at the same time requires a lot of hard work and time management. .

So, how can we overcome this?

Here’s an interview with the chairperson of PUMA accounting, Karina Putri Restike. She is not just an ordinary college student but she is a hard worker and also a top scorer and an active organization student in college.

Why join an organization? Does it benefit us?

Karina has been an active student when it comes to organization, not just in college but she has been an active student ever since from junior high school to senior high school. She was part of PMR (Red Cross) as a treasurer in junior high school and she became an OSIS (Student Council) member in senior high school. The journey didn't stop from there, once she entered college in her first year she was part of a member in PUMA Accounting and now continuing in her second year, she is the Chairperson of PUMA Accounting. “ I want to join an organization because I myself think I need other things to do besides studying and with organizations I can be able to make friends with people outside my class. Joining an organization is very beneficial because with the organization I am more courageous in facing problems, more confident, and easily able to adapt to my surroundings.”-Karina.

 

Being a student is certainly not something easy, but by becoming a student one can have the opportunity to learn more as well as develop one's potential. This can be done by participating and being active in an organization because there are so many advantages of organizations for students.

Organizations are able to develop yourself in a wider way and expand your networking, it can train you to be disciplined, courageous and develop capabilities.

Managing time between different activities

Being busy in college doesn't mean you can't be active in organizations. Every student may organize as long as they are capable of managing their time between college tasks and other activities. You can participate in one or even more organizational activities by dividing your time appropriately considering your college tasks because after all college task is your top priority as a student. There is time for studying, doing assignments, attending organizational meetings, resting, and refreshing so you don't get stressed.

 

It is not easy to be able to maintain a high GPA and let alone lead your members in your organization, so how does Karina overcome all this? “ I separate the things between college and organization, I will make plans for important and urgent matters to be done first. For academics, during class, it is very important to listen to what is explained by the lecturer. Also, I use my free time to focus on academics. Lastly, being the chairperson of PUMA is really challenging because I need to lead and care for the people inside and outside PUMA. Leading isn't an easy thing and also in an organization there will definitely be difficulties, but every time I face difficulties I am always grateful for the cooperation from PUMA or from outside PUMA. - Karina

 

There are many more tips that can be followed to guide you on how you can manage between college and organization, such as;

Create a priorty scale

 

The most important thing is to make a priority scale. A competent individual will constantly be aware of what She is doing and know how to spend his time effectively. Create a priority scale based on the most important task for each day or week. For instance, when approaching the final exam, the highest priority is college compared to organizations. Create a type of "deadline" schedule listing the things that must be finished or given top priority.

Stop Procrastination

 

t's good to do every job as soon as you get it. For example, immediately doing coursework after being given by the lecturer or doing organizational activities after a meeting. Don't get into the habit of procrastinating work because you believe there is still plenty of time. In reality, you have very little time left to do it without even recognizing be a deadliner either because it has the potential to make work incomplete. Work on each job one at a time so you can focus and not get mixed up with other work.

Determine your target

 

Is it helpful to create targets for accomplishment, as many people wonder? Of course, certainly, it is important. You can't guarantee that you can live it well if you don't have a target. As a result, having a target greatly influences how you choose to carry out your tasks. You can set targets for your college tasks and organization so that you can complete each activity much faster. Each activity that occurs has a given amount of time according to the plan. However, make an effort to do it quickly before the time is up.

 

So what’s stopping you now from joining an organization?

Don't hesitate to be active in joining an organization while you are studying in college. Because you will feel the benefits of both when you enter the world of work. “The result achieved after accomplishing something is something to be proud of.”- Karina
